THE STRANGER
You might have come upon a new British series called The Stranger while scanning Netflix's thriller library. The show, created by Harlan Coben, features mystery, intrigue, and, above all, familial drama among a group of characters - it's Love actually... but with murder. The show begins with a stranger informing Adam Price (Richard Armitage) of his wife's fictitious pregnancy. The stranger (Hannah John-Kamen) appears on a regular basis, blackmailing people about their own or their loved ones' transgressions. Corinne (Dervla Kirwan), Adam's wife, goes missing soon after. The plot zooms out in each episode to offer us a more complete picture
The youngsters, who have little to do with the main plot aside from Detective Johanna Griffin (Siobhan Finneran) investigating their case prior to the killings. Daisy spiked Mike after becoming persuaded that he shared photographs of her sister's privates on the internet, so he was high on a strong drug during a rave. (It was Liv who did it, but we'll get to that later.) Mike sliced off the alpaca head that launched the investigation while high. Dante, who was discovered naked after the rave and spent the entire season in a coma, just fell in the woods after Daisy abandoned him. That is all there is to it. He had nothing to do with Corinne's disappearance, despite the fact that he took weird films of her. Adults are the ones that are doing the sleazy stuff.
We learn early on that Johanna's colleague, Patrick Katz (Paul Kaye), murdered her friend Heidi (Jennifer Saunders). He wanted to learn more about the stranger who had blackmailed his private customer. Katz eventually discovers that his wife, who suffers from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, had been poisoning their daughter Liv, and that all of his additional effort and murder to pay for her medical treatment had been in vain. Johanna pays him a visit after that discovery. Heidi's partner Wesley (Kadiff Kirwan) tells her over the phone that she was with Katz before she died. Katz beats Johanna and then his wife before Wesley can reach them. However, after receiving a tip about the stranger, he quickly departs.
Adam is in desperate search of his wife, and he believes the stranger knows where she is. He discovers that the stranger is Christine Killane, the daughter of his client Martin Killane (Stephen Rea), aka the man who murdered his wife and hid her body in the walls for years (yikes). Adam locates her with the assistance of his father's private investigator. Johanna receives the address by text, but Katz has her phone.
Christine (Lily Loveless) and her partner Ingrid (Christine) had Adam kidnapped. The former admits that Adam is her half-brother dun dun. Martin isn't her biological father, to be sure. Adam's father is a philanderer. Katz appears out of nowhere and shoots the woman. Johanna's crew, thankfully, arrives on time.
Christine says to Adam in the hospital that she intended to keep an eye on him by informing him of his wife's falsehoods. She didn't want his money, despite the fact that she exposes secrets for a living. Adam learns via Christine's knowledge that it was his friend Tripp (Shaun Dooley) who had been stealing money from the sports club. Corinne was aware of this and decided to give him some breathing room while he sorted out his finances. When Adam inquired about the phony pregnancy, Corinne assumed Tripp had informed her husband and confronted him. Tripp killed her and dumped her in the woods. Returning to the present, Tripp walks Adam to her body and asks him to keep this a secret, but Adam shoots him many times.
Adam is at his son's soccer (football) game six months later. Johanna comes in for a visit. What was the last twist? Johanna had assisted Adam in covering up Tripp's death by pinning it on Katz. Christine, in usual manner, observes from afar, rather than being imprisoned, because no one wants their secrets disclosed.
